    Perforated Dielectric Lens Antenna Design

    In this paper, a dielectric lens in a three dimensional structure with a matching layer on a planar antenna platform was added to work on a high gain antenna. It has been shown that the antenna with the same parameters can be designed by reducing the cost of production by using the perforated dielectric lens method which can be used equivalent to the dielectric lens used. Due to the high production difficulties and high cost of lens antenna structures, alternative methods have been studied and successful results have been obtained by using a method with scientific innovation value.This work was supported by Research Fund of the Yildiz Technical University.     Signals in the Soil: An Introduction to Wireless Underground Communications

    In this chapter, wireless underground (UG) communications are introduced. A detailed overview of WUC is given. A comprehensive review of research challenges in WUC is presented. The evolution of underground wireless is also discussed. Moreover, different component of UG communications is wireless. The WUC system architecture is explained with a detailed discussion of the anatomy of an underground mote. The examples of UG wireless communication systems are explored. Furthermore, the differences of UG wireless and over-the-air wireless are debated. Different types of wireless underground channel (e.g., In-Soil, Soil-to-Air, and Air-to-Soil) are reported as well

    A novel planar, broadband, high gain lateral wave antenna array for body scanning applications

    Three-dimensional body scanning systems are increasingly used in sensitive public areas such as airports. By providing a high resolution image of a person from all sides, it is possible to detect potential metallic, ceramic and explosive threats. For these systems, it is essential to design broadband antennas with a fan beam, highly directional radiation in one plane and wide in the other plane, and characterized by phase center stability as a function of frequency. In this paper, the planar lateral wave antenna (LWA) array is proposed to achieve these radiation requirements. The LWA has two critical shortcomings: the flaring part and the dielectric matching layers (MLs), to operate over very broad frequency bands. In this work, these shortcomings are overcomed by forming a connected array of planar LWAs to improve broadband performance and by applying necessary perforations on the dense dielectric lens antenna to create different effective relative permittivity regions. An eight element connected and perforated LWA array is designed to operate in the 8–24GHz frequency band. The drilled holes are proved to play a similar critical role of MLs in internal reflection suppression.     Lobster Population Parameter In Bumbang Bay, Central Lombok [Parameter Populasi Lobster Perairan Teluk Bumbang, Lombok Tengah]

    Perairan Teluk Bumbang adalah salah satu pusat perikanan lobster di Lombok Tengah, dimana penangkapan dilakukan setiap waktu dan berpotensi mengganggu keberlanjutan populasi dimasa yang akan datang. Potensi risiko dan tekanan penangkapan dapat dikaji melalui analisis panjang dan bobot, pertumbuhan, struktur ukuran dan potensi recruitment. Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 6 jenis lobster, dimana 2 jenis dominan yaitu lobster mutiara (45,5%) dan lobter pasir 44,5% dari total tangkapan. Hubungan panjang dan berat memiliki pola allometrik negatif (lobster mutiara b=2,04 dan lobster pasir =1,2). Pertumbuhan tergolong lambat dengan koefisien laju pertumbuhan 0,2-0,49 per tahun. Begitu juga recruitment per biomass dari populasi juga rendah dan eksploitasi tergolong tinggi yaitu 0,6. Kemampuan tumbuh yang lambat dengan recruitment yang rendah serta eksploitasi tinggi, potensial menganggu keberlanjutan populasi lobster dimasa yang akan datang
